In these times of Tory cuts and attacks on the poorest in society Mill Hill and Moorgate Councillors and Blackburn’s Labour Council have battled hard to make sure that essential frontline services are protected. Everyone has less money in their pockets so it’s more important than ever for Council services to be easily available – whether that be childcare and support for young families – through our Children’s Centres – learning opportunities through our libraries with PC access – benefits and financial advice if you are struggling to make ends meet or home help for the elderly. It saddens us to see the hardship that Tory Government policies are placing on everyone in the community.

Your Councillors have secured priority funding for housing regeneration in the Griffin area and ensured that local facilities such as the Community Centre and Library have been protected from the unfair cuts being imposed by the Tory government

Councillor Julie Gunn

Julie was born and brought up in Blackburn, living in Feniscowles with family connections in  Mill Hill. After living in Birmingham, London and Brighton  she returned to Blackburn to start a family; Julie is married and has two sons.

Julie as part of the Labour-led council is working hard to manage the cuts imposed on us by the Tory-led Government in a way that is as fair as possible and will continue to speak up for those who need help and defend the interests of the residents of Mill Hill and Moorgate ward.

"The Labour Party has always been and should always remain the voice of the working class. It is time for us to put right the popular myth that all parties are the same, and those in need of support only have themselves to blame" Councillor Julie Gunn

Councillor Damian Talbot

Damian has represented Mill Hill  on Blackburn with Darwen Council since 2007. In representing Mill Hill ward and now the wider area of Mill Hill & Moorgate for over ten years he has always done his best to speak up for local residents, the local community and the wider needs and interests of our area.

Damian holds public meetings and works directly with dedicated volunteers who have stepped in to support local services. He attends community clean-ups across the ward, and has been overwhelmed with the dedication of so many volunteers who now go out regularly picking up rubbish – understanding that the Council can’t do as much but showing commitment to the local area.

"I've taken up countless individual issues for residents, attended community meetings and supported community groups, and always pressed for a share of what limited resources are available from the Council." Councillor Damian Talbot
